William Purpura, managing director of Great Lakes Global Ltd, has traded futures and options for 30 years. Mr. Purpura became a member of COMEX in 1981 and has been an active participant in a wide variety of exchange functions and committees, including six years as a COMEX Governor. In 1987 he co-founded Great Lakes Metals, Inc. which became one of the largest brokers on COMEX. He was instrumental in bringing round-the-clock electronic trading to the COMEX Division metals. Customers included major bullion banks, fund managers and large professional traders. Currently he is a consultant for CME Group for metals trading and Asia strategies. He has conducted numerous trading seminars in Asia and is one of eight international advisors to the Shanghai Gold Exchange.  Mr. Purpura has shared his views with the Shanghai Futures Exchange, Dalian Commodity Exchange, CSRC, SFC and Peoples Bank of China. 
In 2008 he founded Great Lakes Global Ltd. and Great Lakes Managed Futures Ltd. to develop futures, options and cash gold trading in Asia, along with alternative asset management.
